Description from Goodreads:

Andie has a plan. And she always sticks to her plan.

Future? A top-tier medical school.
Dad? Avoid him as much as possible (which isn't that hard considering he's a Congressman and he's never around).
Friends? Palmer, Bri, and Toby - pretty much the most awesome people on the planet, who need's anyone else?
Relationships? No one's worth more than three weeks.

So it's no surprise that Andie's got her summer all planned out too.

Until a political scandal costs Andie her summer pre-med internship, and lands both she and Dad back in the sam house together for the first time in years. Suddenly she's doing things that aren't Andie at all - working as a dog walker, doing an epic scavenger hunt with her dad, and maybe, just maybe, letting the super cute Clark get closer than she expected. Palmer, Bri and Toby tell her to embrace all the chaos, but can she really let go of her control?

I loved this book! First off, I am hugely into dogs. I love dogs. And (as you can see from the cover) we got dogs!! So, immediately, a tick from me.

YA contemporaries are arguably known for the romance. And I enjoy that. Sometimes I need YA romance. What I really loved about The Unexpected Everything was that the book was full of a variety of relationships that as the reader I got to experience and explore. We had boyfriend/girlfriend, the relationships between a group of friends and individually, and father/daughter, which was actually one of my favourites! I have the biggest soft spot for father-daughter relationships, and the relationship between Andie and her dad, with the added issues surrounding her mother, really struck an emotional chord with me.

The relationships and their complexity definitely created a depth to the story and characters. In my opinion there was significant character growth, which I really enjoyed seeing. One of my favourite characters was definitely Clark. He was incredibly sweet and I totally fell for him! Also big shout out to Bertie, which just so happens to be my brother's name!

There was drama between the friends in The Unexpected Everything, and while I don't want to say too much and give anything away, I will say that I didn't particularly agree with what Andie did. That being said, I can see why it happened and it definitely added to the growth of the characters.

I really enjoyed The Unexpected Everything and would highly recommend it!
